Bubble Shooter review
It’s been a popular game for a long time. Some might remember its Flash-based version that was an online hit. Now Bubble Shooter has lots of incarnations, and this one by Free Puzzle Games, Ltd. is one of the most prominent.
The Bubbles and the Cannon
The idea of this game is simple. There are clouds of colored bubbles coming from above. If they reach the ground level, the game is over. But you have a bubble cannon to prevent this. Shoot a bubble into the cloud to form a group of three or more same-colored bubbles, and they will pop. If you separate a group below, it also falls down and pops.
To make a shot, you need to either drag your cannon to direct it or tap the target spot to shoot immediately. You can also tap the next bubble to come to swap it. If you have played any Bubble Shooter game, you’ll find it familiar.
It’s a very special sort of Match-3, dynamic and immersive. The designers of this version added lots of powerups on every level, like fire bubbles, and lots of extra missions. As for the visuals, they are very colorful and juicy. Well, it should be just so, as the game is all about colors. But if you compare this one to analogs, you will see that the one by FPG Ltd. is much more of an eye-candy.
One of the greatest things about this game is being completely functional offline. Though it’s ad-supported, ads can load from the cache. But you don’t need an Internet connection to play. Though it can be synced with a cloud, it happens just when you reconnect.
The game features about 300 levels, and each new update delivers some more. The latest update (as for the moment it’s being written) was rolled out on November 25, 2019, and they appear frequently. New levels bring new tasks to complete.
On the other hand, this Bubble Shooter follows games like Candy Crush Saga. The further you go, the harder the levels get. You are limited in lives and have either to wait until they restore or to pay for faster resurrection. Completing levels also requires powerups, and that means spending in-game coins. Again, you can either earn them as rewards for your victories or just purchase.
Hope It Runs
While the game is quite a good version of a popular idea, there is a probability that it just won’t run on your device, even when correctly installed. It will show you nothing but a black screen. This incompatibility is quite individual, but if that’s the case with you, you better wait until the next update of no matter what – the game or your device’s firmware.
If you have installed the game and it works fine, you better not update it until you make sure that it’s okay. You may also use backup tools to make sure another update won’t ruin it.
- A good take on classical gameplay;
- Low system requirements;
- Lots of levels to go through;
- Good visuals and sounds.
- May refuse to run on your device;
- Heavily donation-based.
